Project Description

Hob Moor is a unique and successful community of learners in a Federation between a mainstream primary and a primary special school.

The Federation brought together Hob Moor Oaks School and Hob Moor Community Primary School into one purpose built, integrated Children’s Centre in Acomb, York.

The educational facility provides both PMLD and SLD support for children with special needs whilst also providing mainstream education for primary school children.

The facility boasts a Hydrotherapy swimming pool, Physiotherapy Suite, Sensory Room, Ball pool and dedicated wash facilities for those children with the special needs as well as hoist and track systems incorporated within the ceilings/corridors to provide a fully inclusive facility. A sports hall, drama facility, gym, two internal courtyards play areas, external habitat areas, Adult education and a Sure Start provisions are also provided as well as a nursery to provide a multi functioning community hub within Acomb.

The school has won several awards in the community that it serves and is considered an exemplar facility for integrated education.
